The Front Page was first performed on Broadway in 1928. It is set in the Chicago City Hall press room, where cynical tabloid reporters are waiting to get the “scoop” on the scheduled execution of a prisoner who has been framed by a corrupt mayor. There is fast-paced, physical action and brisk dialogue throughout. NOTE: You may feel uncomfortable with the time period language and attitudes, which are replete with racism, sexism, and ethnic bigotry.
