Spotlight Theatre is bringing back The Great American Trailer Park Musical. We previously opened this\u00a0musical on March 13th, 2020, but sadly were shut down by COVID after one performance.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Our new performance dates are March 8th, 9th, 10th, 15th, 16th & 17th.<\/p>

The rehearsal schedule will be Sunday, Monday and Wednesday evenings beginning on December 17th, 2023.<\/p>

All (in person and video) are asked to please sign up in advance (Audition form), and we will send you backing tracks to help you prepare for your in-person or video audition.<\/p>

Video auditions may be submitted to the director, Joe Ward (joe@spotlighttheatrepa.org<\/span><\/a>) until December 12th.<\/p>

There\u2019s a new tenant at Armadillo Acres\u2014and she\u2019s wreaking havoc all over Florida\u2019s most exclusive trailer park. When Pippi, a stripper on the run, comes between the Dr. Phil\u2013loving, agoraphobic Jeannie and her tollbooth collector husband\u2014the storms begin to brew. Warning: This show contains crude language, adult situations, ugly wigs, adultery, bad perms, spray cheese, tacky outfits, road kill, hysterical pregnancy, kleptomania, and strippers. With music set to country rock, gospel, blues and disco.<\/p>

ROLES:<\/strong><\/p>

JEANNIE GARSTECKI \u2013 35\u201345 Years old Mezzo with high belt\u00a0<\/strong>Jeannie has lived in a trailer at Armadillo Acres for 20 years with her husband and high-school sweetheart, Norbert. A trauma made her an agoraphobic. She hasn\u2019t left her trailer in years, and the man she loves is drifting further and further away and she\u2019s determined to get him back \u2026 that is if she could manage to get out of the trailer to do it \u2026<\/p>

NOBERT GARSTECKI \u2013 35\u201345 Years old High baritone with a country twang\u00a0<\/strong>Jeannie\u2019s husband Norbert collects tolls for a living and tries to be as good a husband as one can be to an agoraphobic. He is a simple man who desperately wishes his wife could get out of the trailer, but he\u2019s not equipped with the emotional or intellectual tools to help her do it. He has never loved or slept with a woman other than Jeannie. That is until he meets \u2026<\/p>

PIPPI \u2013 28\u201335 Years old Mezzo with high belt\u00a0<\/strong>Pippi is a stripper who has gotten by on her looks and talents for dancing and petty theft. She means no harm and is ready to stop making bad choices and start making changes, but first she has to get lost in a hick-town trailer park in North Florida so she won\u2019t be found by her last bad choice \u2026<\/p>

DUKE \u2013 20\u201330 Years old Rock tenor\u00a0<\/strong>Duke is Pippi\u2019s obsessive, possessive and excessive Magic Marker\u2013sniffing boyfriend; \u201cex\u201d-boyfriend according to Pippi. Not so, according to Duke. Not the brightest guy south of the Mason-Dixon Line, Duke leaves a trail of disaster in his wake wherever he goes. His road trip to Starke is no exception and his arrival at the trailer park is full of surprises \u2014 even for a group of people who have had their share of excitement \u2026<\/p>

BETTY \u2013 38\u201350-Something Alto\u00a0<\/strong>Betty attended high school with Norbert and Jeannie Garstecki and has lived at Armadillo Acres for just as long. She now runs the leasing office and makes it her business to know everything about everybody who passes through the trailer park. Betty is really a mother hen to the denizens of the trailer park. Of all \u201cThe Girls,\u201d Betty is the most grounded.<\/p>

LINOLEUM \u201cLIN\u201d \u2013 30s Mid-range belt\u00a0<\/strong>So-named because her mother gave birth to her on the kitchen floor, Linoleum has a husband on death row at the Florida State Prison. His fate is an electric chair that doesn\u2019t work properly unless most of the town\u2019s electricity is turned off. So Lin watches everyone\u2019s lights and appliances very closely in the hopes that she can keep the chair on the fritz. Sometimes self-absorbed and sometimes just a smart-ass, she hints at a wild, rock[1]and-roll past and is the fieriest of \u201cThe Girls.\u201d<\/p>

DONNA \u201cPICKLES\u201d \u2013 18 Years old Mezzo with mix\u00a0<\/strong>A newlywed, Donna is called \u201cPickles\u201d because she is perpetually hysterically pregnant \u2014 that is, she\u2019s so convinced she should be pregnant she\u2019s exhibiting symptoms. Her husband is a lot fancier than she is, as he is from the big city of Jacksonville. Pickles is desperate to give her husband a family of his own \u2014 even if she has to fake it. The dimmest of \u201cThe Girls,\u201d Pickles is airy, sweet and blissfully ignorant.<\/p>
